Slightly dusty this, but a worthwhile piece in which N’Gai Croal argues that industry fragmentation can only be a good thing in the long run.  I like the fact he uses HBO as an example of a innovative phoenix rising out of the ashes of tawdry Hollywood derivation.  HBO – a company whose programming, creative maturity, and associated processes I’ve long admired – can be seen as a creative beacon for the gaming industry.  There’s a great section in Mavericks at Work: Why the Most Original Minds in Business Win, Taylor & LaBarre, 2008, all about HBO, which, aside from the fact the whole book is spot-on, is well worth honing in on.  In the meantime, enjoy:
